*MOGHALU ENGAGES U.S. CONSULATE ON STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT AND PARTNERSHIP FOR ANAMBRA*

Awka, Anambra State — In a significant step toward fostering international collaboration and advancing the development goals of Anambra State, the Labour party Governorship Candidate and Immediate Past Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Chief Dr. George Moghalu, hosted Mr. Michael Ervin, Political and Economic Chief at the United States Consulate General in Lagos, for a high-level consultative meeting in Awka.

The engagement, which comes at a critical moment as Anambra prepares for its next governorship election, was centered on strategic dialogue around governance, economic reform, youth empowerment, and strengthening democratic institutions.

Dr. Moghalu expressed his appreciation for the Consulate’s interest in the future of Anambra, describing the meeting as “a timely and meaningful conversation that underscores the value of international partnerships in shaping impactful governance.”

“I was honoured to receive Mr. Michael Ervin and his team. Our discussions were rich and focused on how to reposition Anambra for long-term growth and stability. I shared my vision of a government that prioritizes transparency, infrastructure, human capital development, and inclusive governance,” he said.”
Dr. Moghalu emphasized his readiness to work with diplomatic missions and development partners in areas such as education, public health, security, and sustainable economic growth. He noted that global cooperation will be essential in unlocking the full potential of the state.

“As we prepare for the upcoming governorship election, it is crucial to build strategic alliances that can support our transformation agenda. The United States, through its consulate, remains a key partner in supporting democratic institutions, youth development, and capacity building,” he added.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to reaffirm shared values of democracy, civic engagement, and regional stability. Both parties acknowledged the role of credible elections and responsive leadership in deepening democratic culture and delivering results for citizens.

Dr. Moghalu further expressed his commitment to leading with integrity and competence, pledging to serve the people of Anambra with dedication and foresight if entrusted with the mandate to govern.

I believe in a new direction for Anambra—one rooted in service, progress, and the belief that our state can lead by example in Nigeria’s democratic and economic renaissance. I am grateful for the opportunity to share this vision with the U.S. Consulate,” he concluded.

The interaction marks another milestone in Chief Dr. George Moghalu’s consultative approach to governance, reinforcing his reputation as a bridge-builder with a global outlook and local focus.
