PRESS RELEASE:
A REJOINDER – RE: PROTESTS ROCK AMECHI-IDODO IN NKANU EAST LGA OVER PETER MBAH’S DIRECTIONLESS ADMINISTRATION AND HIGH TAXATION
The attention of Amechi-Idodo Federated Clan Federated Union has been drawn to the above false and malicious publication by one Mr. Ken Eze currently circulating in the social media. As the umbrella union of the three autonomous communities in Amechi-Idodo, we hereby categorically and unequivocally deny the said story and state that it is not only false and also malicious but a hatchet job carefully planned and deliberately executed by the author and his sponsors to tarnish the good image of the good people of Amechi-Idodo and cause dis-affection between our people and the hard-working Governor of Enugu State .
For the avoidance of doubt, there was neither any protest anywhere in or near Amechi-Idodo, whether against the activities of the Government of Enugu State nor the person of the Governor or any contemplation or plan for any such protest whatsoever. Our people are peace-loving and law-abiding citizens and have absolutely no reason to embark on any protest, especially against a Government led by one of our own in the person of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who has accorded us unprecedented recognition in terms of political appointments and infrastructural development.
For the records and for the upteenth time, we state categorically that we are proud of our Governor, Dr. Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who, in a short space of one year, has delivered far more democracy dividends that positively impact the lives of Ndi Enugu than some past administrations were able to muster over a period of eight long years.
We are equally proud of the achievements of our son, Mr. Ekene Nnamani, who as Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, has exponentially increased the State internally-generated revenue without increasing the tax rate but simply by expanding the tax net through, bringing more people into the pool thereby freeing the State’s share of the Federation Account for people -oriented capital projects like the Smart Schools, Type Two Health Centres and 10 kilometers of asphalted road in each of the two hundred and sixty political wards in the State, among others, of which our people are grateful beneficiaries.
These are in addition to the Amechi-Idodo- Amagunze Road, the Amechi-Idodo- Owo-Ubahu-Neke-Ikem-Obolo-Afor dual carriageway, the development of the New Enugu City, the five-star international hotel, the numerous rural and urban road projects, the water infrastructure project and the rehabilitation of abandoned State-owned industries, etc.
Indeed, we are at a loss, as to, how any reasonable person can contemplate or plan a demonstration against the Government of His Excellency, Dr. Barr. Peter Mbah in the light of these innovative and laudable accomplishments in so short a time in office.
We are, therefore, not at all persuaded by the perfunctory apology of Mr. Ken Eze and his knee-jerk attempt at exhnorating himself from liability, for his misconduct, by seeking to shift the blame to an unnamed source who, he claimed, was unable to differentiate between Amechi-Idodo and Amechi-Awkunanaw.
The falsity of this after-thought is obvious on it’s face. In our view, Mr. Eze obviously understood the difference between Amechi-Idodo and Amechi-Awkunanaw because, he clearly stated in his fake report that the former is in Nkanu East LGA while the latter is in Enugu South LGA. To further demonstrate the malicious intent of Mr. Eze, he attached to his fake report, the picture of a cultural or masquerade group complete with drums and other traditional musical instruments and purported it to be the picture of his imaginary protesters in Amechi-Idodo. There were no placards or leaves or anything at all, suggestive of a protest or demonstration in that picture.
We would, therefore, advise Mr. Eze not to jump into a premature defence of his pre-meditated wrongful conduct but to keep his powder dry as he would assuredly be speaking to our lawyers and the investigative authorities to unmask his sponsors and their intentions as a prelude to visiting upon them the full weight and sanctions of the law.
Dated at Enugu, this 9th day of July, 2024.
