ANAMBRA GUBER: MOGHALU SEEKS SUPPORT OF UGWUOLO SPORTS CLUB
The Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Chief Dr. George Moghalu, has appealed to members of Ugwuolo Sports Club, Omoba Phase 1, Onitsha, to rally behind his mission to rescue Anambra from what he described as “crippling taxation and worsening insecurity.” The meeting was chaired by the club’s Chairman, Mr. Christian Okoye.
Moghalu decried the unbearable burden placed on traders who, beyond multiple levies, are harassed through the infamous “Aka odo” system of tax collection. He lamented that while citizens struggle to survive, government policies only worsen their plight. “Our traders are overtaxed, our markets are dying, and insecurity is chasing investors away. This state is collapsing under our watch, and November 8 offers us the chance to save it,” he said.
He further condemned the escalating insecurity across the state, noting that families live in fear while businesses shut down every Monday due to sit-at-home. “The insecurity is too much, the harassment is too much, and our people cannot breathe. This is not governance; it is failure. But I assure you, I will not fail you. Together we will restore peace and dignity to Anambra,” Moghalu declared.
Citing his track record as MD of NIWA, Moghalu recalled that within six months he concessioned the Onitsha River Port, an achievement still celebrated nationwide. “If I could do that at the federal level, I can rebuild Anambra. Go to Abia today, Governor Alex Otti has written his name in history. That same energy and competence will drive our government,” he affirmed.
