Posted on August 21, 2025 by Sonia Onoja

Dear Prof. Newtawe Yilwatda,

I write to you with a heavy heart upon hearing the news of the passing of your beloved mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda. As I reflect on the profound bond between a mother and her child, I can only imagine the deep sense of loss you are feeling at this moment. There are truly no words that can fully capture the pain of losing someone so dear, particularly a person as cherished as a mother.

Mama Lydia was not just a remarkable woman, but a beacon of guidance and strength for you and your family. Her love, wisdom, and unwavering support have undoubtedly shaped the incredible leader you have become today. The legacy of her kindness and fortitude will undoubtedly live on through the lives of those she has touched. It is often said that a mother’s love is eternal; her influence will remain in your heart and in the hearts of all who knew her, long after her physical presence has been taken from us.

During this difficult time, I hope you can find solace in the memories you shared together. The laughter, the lessons, and the unconditional love that she bestowed upon you throughout your life will forever be a source of comfort. It is my sincere hope that these cherished moments bring you peace as you navigate through this profound loss.

As the Director of Contact and Mobilization for the Progressive Group and a fellow member of our APC family, I want you to know that I, along with our party and community, stand beside you in mourning. Together, we can honor the incredible life of Mama Lydia by continuing to cultivate unity, love, and support within our circles, reflecting her values.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this time of sorrow. May the soul of Mama Lydia Yilwatda rest in peace, and may you find strength in the love of family and friends who surround you now more than ever.

With deepest sympathy,

Chief Hon. Dr. Mrs. Oby Promise Ajih
