SEEKING TO SERVE AS CHAIRMAN OF NBA IKORODU BRANCH
My name is Julius Nnamani (J.U. Nnamani), LL.M(LAG) MCIArb (London), Pnm, ABR, ACTI, Member, Panel of Neutrals – LMDC, and Notary Public.
I was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 and became a member of the NBA Ikorodu Branch in 2007. Since joining the Branch, I have had the privilege of serving in various capacities, contributing to its growth and professional development. These include:
a. 2008: Appointed Member of the 3-Man Electoral Committee, chaired by M. J. Agboola, Esq.
b. 2010: Member of a 3-Man Sub-Committee of the Human Rights/Pro Bono Committee, which applied to the Deputy Controller of Prisons for the release of the names of 14 indigent defendants from the Ikorodu Magisterial Districts. We subsequently provided legal representation for them until their matters were concluded.
c. 2013: Appointed Alternate Secretary of the Bye-Law Review Committee, prior to the introduction of the NBA Uniform Bye-Laws in 2016.
d. 2013–2014: Elected as the First Welfare Secretary of the Branch in a bye-election following an amendment to the Branch Bye-Laws. During this tenure, after attending the South-West Branches Empowerment Committee Meeting in Abeokuta (chaired by Mrs. Funke Adekoya, SAN), I introduced a proposal for the establishment of an NBA Cooperative Society for the Branch.
e. Secretary, Law Week Committee (two separate tenures).
f. 2017–2018: Chairman, Disciplinary Committee.
g. 2018–2020: Branch Secretary and NEC Member.
h. 2020–2022: Chairman, Membership and Allied Matters Committee.
i. 2022: Chairman, Electoral Committee.
j. 2024 – Present: Chairman, Membership and Allied Matters Committee.
Learned Seniors and Distinguished Colleagues, flowing from the above years of service, I have gained valuable experience and insight into the workings and needs of our Branch.
With this background, I humbly present myself to serve you in the capacity of Chairman of the NBA Ikorodu Branch, having submitted my nomination form for the office.
I therefore respectfully seek your support and cooperation in all ramifications as we work together to further strengthen our great Branch.
